Yin Yoga Class

This class is aimed at anyone wishing to restore, relax, rejuvenate and release. In Yin yoga passive postures are held for a number of minutes, and by using the breath to relax into postures the connective tissue and fascia surrounding the body is released. Each pose becomes like a mini meditation, a chance to go within, be still and accept what is without resistance; a useful metaphor for life. Yin yoga compliments other yoga and sports practises. The benefits of a yin yoga class include a reduction in the effects of stress and fatigue, release of build of tightness and toxins, increased flexibility and lubrication in the body, lower cortisol levels, lower heart rate and calmer brain. Suitable for all.

Restorative Workshop

This workshop is for anybody who would like to create space in their life for proper self care and relaxation. We are increasingly becoming more saturated with demands and information in modern life and the body has to process everything that comes its way. That is why for health it is crucial to stop, breathe and come to stillness, to allow the body a moment of respite. This series of workshops is designed to give you that opportunity, for the body to be soothed and gradually brought to the place of ‘rest and digest’ where healing can take place. We will use bolsters to support the body in certain poses, blankets eye bags and essential oils so you can feel fully able to rest, let go and soften.

Yin Yang Yoga

This series of workshops is designed for anyone who wishes to find balance, strength and flexibility in the body. Bringing both a Yin and Yang style to one class can really bring balance to your practise. A Yang style is more dynamic, warming and masculine and works the muscles and blood bringing stamina, strength and flexibility. Whereas a Yin style is a slower practice that works the connective tissue and joints and is a more cooling, inward and softening style and becoming frequently used in sport for recovery and mobility. The use of Yoga Nidra, guided meditation at the end of this class is a bonus as it brings about a deep state of mental, emotional and physical relaxation which is very restorative for the body, helping to replenish and revitalise.

Anxiety Workshop

Do you find day to day living difficult due to anxiety, general worry or panic attacks. If the answer is yes then this practical workshop can help you. Together we will practice mindfulness, breathing techniques and yoga postures that will help alleviate some of the symptoms you may be experiencing. We will look at what happens physiologically when we start to feel anxious and worried, and how applying any of the above can be a really helpful tool to have for helping yourself. You will leave with new knowledge that you can apply giving yourself a better lease of life.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a systematic method of inducing complete, mental, emotional and physical relaxation. Yoga Nidra is referred to as deep relaxation with inner awareness, a threshold state between sleep and wakefulness, a withdrawal from the outer senses but a gateway to higher states of consciousness. The stresses of today are more mental than physical. Our bodies are designed to be in fight or flight mode for short spurts of between 60-90 seconds. However, over a prolonged period of time this can be very damaging. Yoga Nidra enables us to release excess tension that has built up in the body. Rigorous scientific studies have shown the benefits of Yoga Nidra on the body, a forty five minute session is known to be the equivalent to the restorative qualities of three hours sleep, helping us replenish and revitalise. Our over active mind is the root of our issues and Yoga Nidra dissolves this. We can step back from the contents of our mind, struggles and feelings and have space to choose our responses to life, so we take back our ability to notice our thoughts. This body breath and awareness technique is designed to help you drop from the thinking mind via the feeling body to slide into a state of being, relaxation. A chance to rest as awareness itself, emptying the contents of the mind by moving down through progressive brain states where there are less and less thoughts.
